Orlando is kicking off the new year in style

With a new year upon us, now’s the time to make a New Year’s resolution – to visit Central Florida. Just because the holidays are over doesn’t mean the fun has to end; in fact, there’s a whole year’s worth of entertainment in the City Beautiful. Even better? While many parts of the country are submerged in chilly temps, Orlando is still wonderfully warm. Here are our top picks for January 2018.

Dinner Shows
Our No. 1 recommendation for January is the family-friendly Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show. This is much more than a dinner show – you can make a full day of it. Explore WonderWorks’ over 100 mind-boggling exhibits, and then dine on pizza and popcorn while an entertainer conducts a show that combines magic, impersonations and high-energy improv. See the show at a discount of 10 percent if you get your tickets here on Orlando.ShowTickets.com – prices (which include both dinner and the show) start at just $28.

Amway Center
The Amway Center is booming with events in January, with 14 events in 31 days. Sports dominate the schedule, as the Orlando Magic play host to five home games, taking on some of the NBA’s toughest teams such as the Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers, while the Orlando Solar Bears hit the ice three times during the month. Marvel fans will get to experience an epic battle between good vs. evil with Marvel Universe Live, Age of Heroes, which takes place January 12-15. WWE’s SmackDown Live (Jan. 2) and country superstar Miranda Lambert (Jan. 19) round out the schedule for the month.

Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts
The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts always has a diverse collection of shows, and January is no different. Events on the schedule in January include: The Dream Lives On MLK Concert (Jan. 13), Jake Owen (Jan. 18), Shopkins Live! (Jan. 20), Jackson Browne with Greg Leisz (Jan. 23) and Riverdance: 20th Anniversary Tour (Jan. 26-28). The month ends with a legendary night with Vice President Joe Biden’s American Promise Tour (Jan. 29).

Theme Parks
Epcot is kicking off the year with another annual festival – for the second year in a row, the Epcot International Festival of the Arts debuts January 12 at the Walt Disney World Resort, and it promises to be bigger than the year before! A cultural celebration of food, art and entertainment, this festival promises something for the whole family. Dine on artistic dishes from around the world, view remarkable art pieces and check out the Disney on Broadway concert series. Performances in the month of January include: Kara Lindsay from Newsies and Kevin Massey from Tarzan (Jan. 12-15 and Jan. 19-22); Kissy Simmons and Alton Fitzgerald White from The Lion King (Jan. 26-29). The Festival of the Arts runs through Feb. 19 at Epcot.
