Fun Shows to See in the New Year

With a New Year upon us, now is the time to make a New Year’s resolution – to visit Orlando, Florida and catch one of the amazing shows! Just because the holidays are over doesn’t mean the fun has to end. In fact, there’s a whole year’s worth of fun that is to come in the City Beautiful, and if you happen to find yourself in Orlando in January, there are plenty of ways for you to kick off the New Year in style. Keep reading below to find out more!

No. 1 Pick – Blue Man Group

Our No. 1 recommendation for January is Blue Man Group at Universal CityWalk. This resident show located in the Sharp Aquos Theatre takes place in a small and intimate setting, but the show itself is larger-than-life! Whether you are in the “splash zone” or the back row, there is no bad seat in the house for this one hour and 45-minute performance. Guests can expect a mixture of different elements and acts – there are heart-pumping percussion sections where the blue men make music with everything from drums to pipes, but there are unexpected times of comedy as well, and a few lucky people in the audience even get to be a part of the show! If you aren’t one of the lucky few, however, everyone still gets into the act towards the end of the show, when a crazy dance party ensues that encompasses the entire audience! Tickets start at an amazing price and make it the perfect stop on your next Orlando vacation!

Honorable Mentions

The honorable mentions for January are Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba and the Outta Control Comedy Dinner Show, both of which also come at a discount from! Both these shows are a fun time for the whole family, and make the perfect setting for an end to your night after a day of fun in Orlando theme parks.

Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts

The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts always has a diverse collection of shows playing, and January is no different, as one of Broadway’s biggest hits, Wicked, hits the stage January 11-29 in the Walt Disney Theater. To keep the hits coming, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons play a show on January 31 to close out the month of January.

With all of these shows and events taking place this January, there’s no better way to ring in 2017 than with a trip to Central Florida!
